São Paulo – Sudan’s acoustic guitar player Elfateh Hussain is performing at Virada Cultural, an event due this weekend in São Paulo. According to the Sudanese embassy to Brasília, the musician is a teacher at the Sudan Music Academy and the author of books such as Sudanese Songs and Classical Guitar and History of the Guitar in African Countries and in Sudan. He has composed for movies, documentaries and African series, and is the founder of the National Music and Popular Instruments Group.
The guitarist will perform on Saturday (18th) from 7:00 to 8:30 pm, at the auditorium of Library Mário de Andrade, on Rua da Consolação, 94, in central São Paulo. The Virada attractions are free of charge.
On Sunday (19th) at 3:030 pm, Hussain will give a talk and demonstration on Music from Sudan: from Afro-Arab sources to sophisticated improvisations, rhythms and melodies. The event will take place at the Library and Research Centre South America-Arab Countries (Bibliaspa), on Rua Baronesa de Itu, 639, Higienópolis, also in central São Paulo.
