São Paulo – Brazil’s National Supply Company (Conab) donated over 12,000 tons of foodstuffs as international humanitarian aid in 2015, it said in a statement this Wednesday (23). The donations went to Algeria, Cuba, Gaza, Guatemala, Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone and the Central African Republic.
The bulk of donations consisted of processed rice, at 6,900 tons. Beans were also donated. The action is intended to supply food to countries in emergency status due to food and nutritional insecurity. Conab is active in purchasing and storing the items and handles logistics up to the port of departure.
