Brasília – Production of grains in the 2014/2015 harvest in Brazil should reach 204.5 million tons, an increase of 5.6% over the 2013/2014 crop results, which stood at 193.62 million tons. The data is from the 9th survey by the National Supply Company (Conab), released this Thursday (11th).
Compared to last month’s survey, there was an increase of 2.3 million tons in the estimation. This addition, says Conab, derives from the higher productivity of soybean and maize in the second harvest. Soybean production should reach 96 million tons, an 11.5% increase over the previous harvest. The second harvest of maize will reach 49.4 million tons, an increase of 2% over the 2013/2014 cycle.
The cultivated area will be of 57.66 million hectares. The space taken by the main crops is 1.1% larger than in the 2013/2014 harvest. Conab’s survey was done between May 17th and 23rd.
