Brasília – The grain production in Brazil will reach 208.8 million tons, according to the 11th crop assessment published by the National Supply Company (Conab) this Tuesday (11th). According to the institution, it’s a record-breaking number.
The estimated increase over the 2013/2014 cycle is of 7.9% or 15.2 million tons. In the previous crop 193.62 million tons of grains were produced.
According to Conab, the increase is due, mainly, to the productivity gain of the second crop maize, reached in almost all of the producing states, especially those in the Mid-West and Paraná.
The estimation for maize production is of 54 million tons, an increase of 11.6% over the 2013/2014 period. In comparison to the last assessment, there was an increase of 2.5 million tons. Soybean production should reach 96.2 million tons, 11.7% more than the 86.1 million tons of the previous crop.
The production area is at 57.8 million hectares. The cultivated area of the main cultures is 1.3% larger than in the 2013/2014 crop, with an increase of 732,800 hectares. For the winter areas, currently in the final stages of the planting period, there’s no definition yet of the planted area.
