Astana – The sixth round of high-level talks on the ongoing conflict in Syria will take place on September 14 and 15 in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, news agency Agência EFE quoted the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs as saying this Friday (1st).
“According to the guarantors – Russia, Turkey and Iran -, the plan for the upcoming sessions is to go over documents to regulate safety zone activity,” the Ministry’s press service reported.
The parties expect to approve safety zone maps in Syria’s Idlib, Homs and Ghouta provinces, regulations on the freedom of detainees and hostages, the transfer of bodies and missing person searches.
“The parties are expected to release a joint statement on humanitarian landmine removal from Syrian landmarks in the UNESCO World Heritage Site list, as well as discuss other pertinent issues,” the Kazakhstan Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The country has hosted five meetings on the conflict in Syria so far.
