Figures released by Abraciclo point to a year-on-year recovery in September’s motorcycle exports.
The import rate on bikes will drop gradually starting March, from a current 35% to 20% in December.
Brazilian association estimates a production of 1.175 million units in 2020. Domestic market drives up the industry. Exports are down.
Industry association Abraciclo’s chairman Marcos Fermanian said the availability of credit was the primary driver of the increase.
Purchases of the products abroad declined 77.9% in January, according to data released by ABRACICLO. China is the leading supplier.
Association Abraciclo has revised up its 2018 estimate on the back of good results seen from January to November.
September saw 81,590 units made in industry cluster Polo Industrial de Manaus. The industry revised up its 2018 output growth projection.
Brazil saw 80,690 units made last month, but exports are on their way down.
Manufacturing in the Manaus Industry Hub, where most of Brazil’s bicycle industry is, reached 327,800 units in the first half of this year.
Over 41,000 units were shipped abroad from Brazil in the first half. In June, however, foreign sales slid due to currency depreciation in Argentina.
The country produced 96,600 units in May. Exports increased 37% in the same month.
Brazilian industry produced 88,422 units in April, according to sector association ABRACICLO.
The sector’s exports increased 39,3% in this year’s Q1, according to the manufacturers’ association, Abraciclo.
