Three countries have greenlit chicken meat imports from Brazil according to the latest update from the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock. In the Arab world, restrictions have been lifted in all but two countries.

Arab-Brazilian Chamber sees a recovery in Brazil’s chicken meat exports to the Arab market. In the first half of the year, the decline was only 0.53%. Kuwait and Bahrain recently lifted their restrictions.
At a meeting on Sunday, the committee of Kuwait’s Public Authority for Food and Nutrition (PAFN) recommended lifting the ban on imports of Brazilian chicken meat.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock informed the World Organization for Animal Health. The country had a case in Montenegro, Rio Grande do Sul state, in May.
Speaking in the Senate, Brazil’s Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Carlos Fávaro, said that the vast majority of countries recognize the strength of Brazil’s sanitary system and that all measures from the contingency plan to contain avian flu have been implemented.

The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce released a note evaluating as “clear, transparent, and organized” the position Brazilian authorities and companies are taking in the face of cases of HPAI A H5N1 in wild birds in the country. The disease has not infected production poultry.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock of Brazil has received the amount for actions against the avian influenza. The country has 24 cases in wild birds, but there are no records in commercial production.
Another case of avian influenza was detected in Brazil, this time in Rio Grande do Sul but again in a wild bird and not in the productive sector; consequently, the country remains free from the disease. A statement from Brazil’s meat trade lobby ABPA and a Rio Grande do Sul poultry organization said exports stay as usual.
The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce sent a note to Arab embassies in Brazil with clarifications on the cases of avian influenza identified in wild birds in the country. Brazil remains free of the disease.
As Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela, Peru and Chile reported the presence of the disease, Brazil’s government and production sector are reinforcing preventive actions.
