Poultry exports from Brazil climbed in July. The three leading importers – China, Japan and UAE – stepped up their purchases.
Countries including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Yemen and Oman stepped up their chicken meat imports from Brazil in January, even though the industry’s overall imports slid.
Driven by China, Asia is the top destination. Africa’s imports increased, particularly Egypt’s, up 15% from 2019. Other two Arab countries that increased their imports were Jordan, up 18%, and Yemen, 6.1%.
The Gulf country’s purchases were a highlight in foreign sales of chicken during October at 44,900 tons imported.
Brazilian poultry exports were up 1.3% in shipped volume year-to-date through September, but revenue was down. Sales to some Arab countries increased.
Shipped volume went up while revenue declined last month, the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA) said. Sales increased to Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
The Egyptian administration has authorized imports of ready-to-eat chicken products from 40 Brazilian meat packers previously accredited to export whole chickens to the Arab country.
Brazilian industry association ABPA reported a drop in foreign sales revenues. Shipped volume went up in the first half of the year. At least five Arab countries stepped up their imports.
Chicken meat exports from Brazil climbed 4.5% year-on-year in May to 399,400 tons, while revenues slid 17.3% to USD 546.3 million.
Brazilian poultry shipments increased year-to-date through April, driven up by the Middle East, Africa, and Asia.
Brazil’s ambassador to Kuwait Norton Rapesta told ANBA that goods from Brazil keep shipping to the Arab country.
Among the new plants that can export to the Arab country, 15 are beef packers and 27 are poultry packers.
Foreign sales went up in terms of shipped volume, but declined in terms of revenue.
