The pause of life and the burial of dreams that span generations in Palestine, due to the conflict with Israel, are the underlying theme of the film All That’s Left of You, which kicked off the 20th edition of the Arab World Film Festival on Wednesday (13) at CineSesc in São Paulo.

Brazil’s Recife kicks off the festival with films directed by Arab women on Wednesday (13). In Duque de Caxias, Niterói, and Rio de Janeiro, screenings will begin next week.
Productions by Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, and Tunisia are part of the program of the 47th edition of the festival that takes place from October 19 to November 1st. This year’s selection features 360 films from across 96 countries.
Productions ‘The Boy and the World’ [‘O Menino e o Mundo’] and ‘Pelé: Birth of a Legend’ [‘Pelé: o Nascimento de uma Lenda’] will be screened this Thursday (20) and Friday (21) at Ishbilia Theatre, in Saida, for free.
The event will co-occur in Curitiba from July 7, in a hybrid format for all of Brazil, with films previously unreleased in the country and emphasizing female production. 11 Arab features and three shorts will be screened.
Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil is hosting online the 2nd Arab Women’s Film Festival to run until June 27. All movies are directed by Arab women, and 27 are premières in Brazil.
Forum will be held from February 8-13 and bring together ministers, mayors, scholars, and community activists in Abu Dhabi. The emirate will also host Better Cities Film Festival.
