The bloc has initiated discussions on free trade agreements with several Arab countries, but most have not yet been concluded. However, Brazil is in the pro-tempore presidency of Mercosur and shows a willingness to move forward in the conversations with the region’s governments.

The free trade agreement’s committee is expected to meet in September, and one of its topics may be to accelerate tariff reductions. As a representative for Brazilian companies, CNI will propose the discussion and revise origin regulations for vehicles and auto parts.
With Brazil in the pro-tempore presidency of the bloc, the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed it expects to draw the free trade agreement with the Arab country next year.
