The United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq are among the top ten importers of Brazilian chicken meat, says ABPA. According to the institution, the sector is set to reach production and export records this year.

The country was the 10th biggest buyer of Brazilian chicken meat in September, industry association ABPA has reported. The UAE ranked 2nd, and Saudi Arabia was 4th.
Saudi Arabia is the fourth leading destination of chicken produced in Brazil. Shipments to Arab countries and elsewhere were lower, though.
The Gulf state grossed USD 344.7 million from exports to Brazil year to date through July, up 78.5% compared to the same period in 2023. Exports from Brazil to Kuwait also stepped up but at a smaller pace and with a deficit balance.
Region went from a 10.6% share of exports of the Brazilian company in the second quarter of 2023 to 15.7% in the same period this year. A highlight at the earnings release was a net profit of USD 329 million.
The Middle East country stepped up its purchases of the Brazilian product by 118.6% in July, while two other Arab destinations, Saudi Arabia and the UAE decreased their imports. Despite the Newcastle disease case detected in southernmost state Rio Grande do Sul, overall exports climbed last month.
Retailers from the Asian country are participating in the Buyer Project in São Paulo this week and compare products from Brazil to the United States’ and the European Union’s.
On the other hand, ABPA figures show that chicken sales to UAE, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and other Arab countries expanded.
Brazil shipped an average volume of 431,400 tonnes in the first quarter of 2024 compared to 428,000 tonnes last year. June’s and first quarter’s results were down, though, although Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates stepped up purchases.
Industry group Fiergs estimates a slump in exports spurred by the impacts of the floods based on previous predictions for the year. Agriculture lobby Farsul indicates a negative impact on food production, and meatpacker lobby ABPA logged an 11% decline in poultry exports from the Rio Grande do Sul state in May but already points to a recovery.

Since June 10, 1974, the two countries have maintained diplomatic relations that’ve evolved into an intensive trade. In an exclusive interview with ANBA, the UAE’s ambassador to Brasília, Saleh Alsuwaidi, said cooperation between the countries also encompasses culture, tourism and defense.
