The Brazilian certifier has been accredited by the Saudi Food & Drug Authority (SFDA) to issue halal certificates concerning slaughtering and food items for export to the Arab country.

The Saudi Food and Drug Administration temporarily suspended export authorizations for two of the Brazilian food company’s units. However, the company said it will ship product made at other units.
Saudi Food and Drug Authority announced on February 10 a temporary suspension of export authorizations for units in Dois Vizinhos and Francisco Beltrão which account for a combined 20% of all poultry supplied from Brazil to the Arab country.
The newly-accredited companies will be allowed to ship beef to the Arab country. The announcement was made by Brazil’s Agriculture minister Tereza Cristina.
During a seminar at the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, Saudi authorities told Brazilian executives about their country’s market, stressing that incentives are in place for industrial enterprises looking to move in.
