São Paulo – Representatives of football team Salalah, from Oman, will be in São Paulo starting on Monday (27) to learn about the administration of clubs in the city. According to the head of the Omani delegation to Brazilian capital Brasília, Omar Said Omar Al-Kathiri, the objective is to foster professionalism among players in Oman and try to replicate the Brazilian model in the region.
"The intention is to visit the city of São Paulo and learn the rules for sales and exchange of players, to become familiar with the structure and management of football clubs in São Paulo,” said Al-Kathiri. The group, which will remain in Brazil up to July 3, will include two people, apart from Al-Kathiri, and the visit will have the support of the Embassy of Oman.
"Oman has great respected for Brazil as a whole, and one of the areas that was always of great admiration is the tradition of football in this country. For this reason, the delegation would like to generate closer ties with Brazil in the area of sports,” explained the head of the delegation. The group should make contact with the great football clubs of São Paulo and with the São Paulo State Football Federation.
According to Al-Kathiri, the Salalah team is new and is originally from the region of Dhofar. The province has strong presence in football in the country, mainly masculine, and the teams are still among the winners of regional and national titles in Oman.
Al-Kathiri said that most teams in the country are private, but that the government of Oman has been working on improvement of professionalism of players, so that they may become more competitive and have greater chances in world championships.
