Brasília – The trade balance closed the month of April with a surplus of US$ 1.958 billion – export totalled US$ 6.590 billion and import totalled US$ 4.632 billion. In the last week of the month, between the 26th and 30th, the balance was US$ 450 million. Export in the period totalled US$ 1.644 billion and import US$ 1.194 billion.
With the result in the month of April, the accumulated trade balance surplus in 2004 rose to US$ 8.126 billion. From January to April, export totalled US$ 26.038 billion and import US$ 17.912 billion.
The total result of the trade balance figures in the first four months of the year will be announced after 03:30pm (Brazilian time), by the Foreign Trade secretary of the Development, Industry, and Foreign Trade Ministry.
