Brasília – The Brazilian trade surplus reached US$ 23.034 billion from January to September this year, a figure 81.4% higher than in the same period of 2010 (US$ 12.695 billion). The information was disclosed this Monday (3) by the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade.
Year-to-date as of September, after 189 working days, exports reached US$ 190 billion (daily average of US$ 1.005 billion) and imports stood at US$ 166.966 billion (daily average of US$ 883.4 billion). The average surplus per working day was US$ 121.9 million, a figure 80.5% higher than last year’s (US$ 67.5 million).
In the last week of September, imports slowed down and the trade balance showed a surplus again (US$ 1.126 billion), after having closed the fourth week on a US$ 584 million deficit.
In September, exports reached US$ 23.286 billion, resulting in an average per working day of US$ 1.108 billion. Imports stood at US$ 20.212 billion, at a daily average of US$ 962.5 million. The resulting surplus was US$ 3.074 billion, as against US$ 1.078 billion in the same period of last year.
