São Paulo – Importers from Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Lebanon and Oman will be in Brazil from December 8th to 9th, for business meetings with trading companies. The roundtables will be turned to the sectors of food, beverages, building and furniture and should place 22 Arab buyers in front of 50 to 70 traders from Brazil. Enrolment for participation is open up to November 30th (contact below).
The initiative is part of the Tradings do Brasil (Trading Companies from Brazil) programme, developed by the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex) in partnership with the Council of Importer and Exporter Companies at the São Paulo Trade Association (ACSP), and the target is to promote Brazilian exports, mainly by small and medium companies, through traders.
The traders participating in the roundtables are those registered at the Apex. The organisation, according to the project manager, Maurício Manfré, includes 660 exporters. To be in the list, companies must have been in operation for over two years and must export at least US$ 25,000 a year in each of the products they trade.
Manfré explained that the ACSP was chosen as a partner as it is the first organisation to establish a council of export companies. The business meeting with importers in the Middle East is the third promoted in Brazil by the initiative, established in 2008. The two former were with Latin America and Africa. There have also been roundtables in Angola, South Africa, Singapore and Dubai, in the Emirates.
Expectations, according to Manfré, are for generation of US$ 20 million in business at the roundtables. In the meetings with importers from other regions, according to the manager, deals were closed on the spot. Arab importers are important in their markets, occupying the second or third position, explained Manfré. They were invited to the roundtables and the trip is covered by the Apex.
