São Paulo – The Brazilian cargo transport sector had a throughput of 455.57 million tonnes last year, according to figures supplied by the National Confederation of Transport. This volume represents an increase of 15.9% when compared to 2003. There are 56,000 cargo transport companies in Brazil, 80% medium and small, according to the National Agency for Overland Transport.
Yesterday the Federation of Cargo Transport Companies of the State of São Paulo signed a protocol of intentions with the Brazilian Micro and Small Business Support Service (Sebrae) for the promotion of actions to train the productive chain of the state cargo transport system. The intention is to improve the services and reduce direct and indirect costs. The activities forecasted include business management courses, talks, workshops, consultancy, a study about business activity and the creation of a company incubator.
