São Paulo – Triel-HT, a maker of bodies and semi-trailers for transport of agro industrial products, plans to enter the Arab market. The company, headquartered in the city of Erechim, in Rio Grande do Sul, is negotiating with representatives for its products to be placed in the countries of North Africa and, in the near future, also expects to close deals with Iraq for the sale of tankers for water transport.
This information was disclosed by the commercial director at the company, Darlan Dalla Rosa. Triel-HT makes bodies and semi-trailers mainly for the transport of agro industrial products, like pig and chicken feed, live animals, water, fuels, chilled trailers, silos for grain, among others. For five years the company has also been producing fire engines, ambulances and mobile health units.
Triel-HT has been exporting to over 30 countries, most in Latin America, since 1990. To the Arab market, however, the company has not sold yet. But negotiations are underway. Dalla Rosa explains that the company has already participated in three fairs in Iraq. To the region where the country is, the director believes that there are chances to sell equipment like fire engines, health vehicles and equipment for transport of water. Between 2010 and 2011, the company is, in fact, planning to produce fire engines for large airports, like those of the Middle East.
A promising region for sales in the Arab world, however, according to Dalla Rosa, is North Africa, where the company is seeking to find a representative. The countries of the region, different from the Gulf, are producers of agricultural and livestock products, an area in which Triel-HT is specialized. In 2007, the factory from Rio Grande do Sul agreed to export to Iraq, 114 fire engines, but, at the time, the Brazilian real appreciated against the dollar, the deal became unviable and Triel-HT lost the sale to a European competitor.
Triel-HT sells both finished products, with the chassis, or the chassis may be purchased by the client. The company works with several brands of chassis. It is a family company and has been on the market for 25 years. There are five production units, four in Erechim and one in the city of Rio Verde, in Goiás. Up to next year, another factory should start operating in Lucas do Rio Verde, Mato Grosso.
Triel-HT produces between 120 and 130 units a month and exports answer to 15% to 20% of revenues. For next year, the company hopes to increase revenues – between 15% and 20% – and also exports.
