São Paulo – The açaí by Brazilian brand Tropicool won The Superior Taste Award 2023, one of the most prestigious worldwide food and beverage prizes, granted by the International Taste Institute in Brussels, Belgium. According to a statement by Tropicool, the award gave the title of best açaí product in the world to the company.
The assessment was carried out by a jury composed of over 200 chefs and sommeliers. The Tropicool’s product achieved the maximum rating of three stars after a 136-hour assessment process, which follows the criteria of international hedonic sensory analysis: first impression, vision, smell, taste, and final sensation (for beverages).
Tropicool global director Rafael do Prado Ribeiro was quoted as saying in a statement that he is proud to receive this award. “It crowns our efforts in providing superfoods with quality and taste for our consumers worldwide,” he said. He emphasized the award reflects the ability of Brazilian companies to supply quality products competitively to the international market.
Caio Nabuco, co-founder and CEO of Tropicool, added in the statement that the Amazon is a great support for Tropicool’s operation. “We study the forest a lot and keep launching flavors connected to it,” he said. He added that handling frozen products like açaí is much more difficult, and with innovation in logistics, the company has greatly increased its competitiveness.
