São Paulo – A two-time winner of the Saint Silvester International Road Race, the Ethiopian-born, Bahraini-naturalized Dawitt Admasu is joining the event’s 94th edition. He will represent Bahrain as he strives for his third win. Admasu won the event in 2014 and 2017. The race will take place on December 31 in São Paulo.
Last year saw the Bahraini runner finish the race in 44 minutes and 15 seconds. Birhanu Balew, who was also representing Bahrain, placed 4th.
In 2018, besides Admasu, the race will feature elite athletes from Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Argentina, Ecuador and Bolivia. They will race a 15-km course through streets and avenues in São Paulo.
The race begins at 8:20 am with the Wheelchair category. Elite women runners start at 8:40 am, and 9 am will see the elite male runners and general athletes go off. The traditional event includes some of the city’s key tourist spots. The starting point is on Avenida Paulista, near number 2000, and the finish line is in front of the Fundação Cásper Líbero building, on Avenida Paulista, 900.
