Dubai – The freight division of the Emirates Airline, the Emirates SkyCargo, airlifted the first car designed and built entirely in the United Arab Emirates to France, where it will be in exhibition during the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the tradicional race held in the European country. The race is part of the World Endurance Championship (WEC) of the International Automobile Federation (FIA) and takes place this weekend, starting at 3 pm (local time) this Saturday (17) and ending at 3 pm on Sunday (18).
Named Design-1, the UAE-built car that will be in exhibition was designed and built by Jannarelly Automotive in a partnership with Equation Composites LLC, the first company to hold a licence to car manufacturing in the Arab country, according to WAM.
Inspired in the classic sports car of the 1960s, the model displays, at the same time, a retro and futuristic look and uses hi-tech composite materials. Equation Composites uses a small team of experts to produce each unit. The prices range from USD 70,000 to USD 90,000. The model can be highly customized, according to the client’s taste, according to WAM.
Emirates SkyCargo worked with a company named Prodex, a logistics company specialized in the Aerospace and automotive industries. Emirates has a specific services for the transportation of high-priced vehicles called Emirates SkyWheels.
