In total, 25 musicians will perform conducted by Brazilian Ed Côrtes in a one-of-a-kind music spectacle. It will combine the richness of Arab and Brazilian cultures with the sounds of classical and popular music in a repertoire consolidated by Côrtes, who wrote new music for the presentation in Brasília.
According to information released by the Embassy of the UAE in Brazil, the UAE Orchestra has been performing worldwide with a select group of young musicians who inspire culture and musicality. Most members are Emirati, but there are also musicians from other Arab countries.
Assembled by the UAE Ministry of Culture and Youth, the orchestra was created to promote Arab culture, develop musical talents, and train and encourage the cultural and creative sector in Arab countries. It allows young musicians to develop and hone their skills while preserving the artistic and musical identity of their origins, according to a release by the embassy.
Conductor Côrtes
Côrtes gained worldwide fame for writing music for the Brazilian film City of God. Son of conductor Edmundo Villani-Côrtes, he wrote over 20 tracks for ballet in partnership with renowned choreographers. He also accrued a series of awards for his songs and works.
