São Paulo – The United Arab Emirates concluded the World’s Coolest Winter campaign, generating AED 12.5 billion (USD 3.4 billion) for the country’s hotel sector, according to a report published Monday (2) by state news agency WAM. According to the Ministry of Economy and Tourism, in its sixth edition, the six-week campaign carried the slogan “Our Winter is Entrepreneurial” and ended on December 16.
In the UAE, winter runs from December to February with mild temperatures. The campaign aimed to highlight the country’s tourist attractions for the season, such as islands, beaches, and nature reserves, as well as other natural, urban, heritage, and cultural sites. The initiative also emphasized the role of entrepreneurship in the tourist experience, showcasing success stories and the contribution of this sector and startups to winter attractions.
According to the UAE Minister of Economy and Tourism, Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, the campaign delivered positive results across all seven emirates. The number of guests exceeded 5 million, a 5% increase compared to the previous edition, and hotel occupancy rates reached 84%, up 2% from the same period last year. He added that the campaign reached over 1.5 billion people worldwide.
