São Paulo – UAE-based advanced technology and defense solutions company Edge announced it would open a regional office for Latin America in Brasília, the national capital of Brazil. The announcement was made during participation in the International Defense and Security Show LAAD, which took place from April 11 to 14 in Rio de Janeiro. The Edge group owns ten companies, offering around 50 advanced defense and security solutions and products, such as autonomous air and land systems, naval systems, precision-guided munitions, and small arms, among others.
Without giving a precise date, Edge said in a statement the office would open soon. Edge Managing Director & CEO Mansour AlMulla said the announcement clearly shows the company’s confidence in markets across the continent and the valuable opportunities they present for international business development, knowledge sharing, and greater prosperity.
The company informed the office would allow the expansion of the services, products, and solutions offered in Brazil and other regional markets, the formation of partnerships, and the promotion of unique and competitive offers to develop local defense capabilities.
At LAAD in Rio, the Emirati company signed an agreement with the Brazilian Navy to jointly build business opportunities for missiles, according to Edge. Agreements were also signed with four Brazilian companies: Condor, Kryptus, Siatt, and Akaer. Edge said the agreements are strategically essential to capitalize on synergies to seize mutually beneficial business opportunities.
Edge had over USD 5 billion in orders last year, USD 1.2 billion of which were from overseas markets. The company serves 30 countries in North and South America, Europe, Africa, and Asia.
