São Paulo – São Carlos Federal University (UFSCar) is accepting refugee candidates. Those in this situation will have at least one position guaranteed in each of the 58 graduate courses (not online) offered by the institution. Enrolment may be up to October 2nd.
To participate in the selection process the person must prove his condition as a refugee through documentation issued by the National Committee for Refugees (Conare). The procedures are available on the call for the process, at site www.vestibular.ufscar.br. The documentation required should be sent to the Provost at the university.
UFSCar has units in the cities of São Carlos, Araras and Sorocaba, all in the interior of the state of São Paulo. The ratio between candidates and openings will be disclosed on October 23rd, when the course and the date of the tests will be disclosed.
The test for refugees is based on the matrix of the National Secondary School Exam (Enem), the document used for elaboration of the questions in the Enem. The test includes 40 questions, a composition and an oral presentation in which the candidate should develop a presentation about his course of interest.
The institution has held the selection process for refugees since 2009. There are currently eight refugee students at the university, from Iraq, Iran, the Congo, Angola, Bolivia, Colombia and Cuba. They are taking courses like Business Administration, Medicine, Image and Sound, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Production Engineering and Social Science.
The list of approved candidates will be disclosed on February 27th, 2013.
