São Paulo – This Monday (28th), the United Nations have reported that four million people in Syria depend of humanitarian aid. Of those, 2.5 million are also in urgent need of food. The situation of Syrian shelterless people and refugees has deteriorated in the past few days, according to UN Radio, because of the harsh winter and the difficulty obtaining fuel to keep the shelters warm.
According to the UN, the shelterless are the most affected by the winter, because they are in places unprotected from the cold, with no heating or adequate blankets and clothing to withstand the low temperatures.
The United Nations also claim that it is hard to get fuel in Syria, and that the diesel available is used at schools, hospitals and bakeries. According to the UN, 60,000 people have died in the conflicts between government forces and the opposition.
