São Paulo – The UN made a plea this Thursday (26) for USD 4.63 billion to be destined to humanitarian aid to Syrian refugees and the neighboring countries that welcomed the majority of the refugee population.
The funds are needed to assist over 4.7 million people. According to the UN, the majority are living below the poverty line. “Syrian refugees and host communities need our support now more than ever,” said the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, according to a UN statement.
