São Paulo – The UN launched this Tuesday (07) a campaign to raise US$ 1 billion to help Syrian children. Named No Lost Generation, the initiative aims to ensure education, psychological support and other forms of help to over 4 million children affected by the Syrian conflict, according to information published this Wednesday (08) by the United Nations website in Brazil.
The campaign is coordinated by the United Nations Children’s Fund (Unicef) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), with support from other UN agencies and NGOs, according to the website.
According to the UN, about one million of the Syrian refugees abroad are children, and another 3 million children are refugees inside their own country.
The website http://championthechildrenofsyria.org/ tells stories of these youngsters affected by the conflict. The organization asks the public to use the #childrenofsyria hashtag in social media to show their engagement to the campaign.
