São Paulo – This Tuesday (30th), the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (Unhcr) announced that it has created an online picture gallery showing the daily lives of Syrian refugees in Lebanon.
According to the UN agency, over 100,000 people have fled to Lebanon since civil conflicts erupted in the neighbouring Syria 19 months ago. Most came from the cities of Homs, Aleppo and Daraa and are under 18 years of age.
The Unhcr reports that the situation of the refugees is precarious, and that a total of more than 300,000 have already left Syria. In addition to Lebanon, they have sought refuge in other nearby countries such as Turkey, Jordan and Iraq.
