Brasília – During a message for the International Women’s Day, the secretary-general of the United Nations (UN) António Guterres, promised the proportion among male and female employees will be equal within a decade inside the organization.
United Nations designate March 8 as a date to promote gender equality and women’s rights. Guterres stated that women empowerment is key for the global process.
Since 2017, Guterres has nominated women for important position inside the organization, including Izumi Nakamitsu (picture above) as under-secretary-general of disarmament affairs and Mami Mizutori as special representative for disaster risk reduction. On 2018, UN achieved gender parity in leading positions.
