São Paulo – The United Nations will have a new office in Brazil in April. According to information from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the unit will house personnel from the UNDP itself, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the United Nations Global Pact, an initiative for encouraging companies to adopt corporate and environmental responsibility policies.
The UN office will be located in a story of a São Paulo state government building in downtown São Paulo. The permit for usage of the area was signed last Tuesday (12th) by the UNDP joint representative Arnaud Peral and the state secretary for Planning and Regional Development, Julio Semeghini. The office’s inauguration is scheduled for late April. There are UN offices in the Brazilian cities of Rio de Janeiro, Salvador and Brasília.
