São Paulo – University Saint-Esprit de Kaslik (Usek), from Lebanon, will promote a long distance course, via the internet, Geopolitics: Lebanon and Middle East. Classes are to be given in English by six professors of Political Science. The course is organized by the Higher Institute of Political and Administrative Sciences and the Latin American Studies and Cultures Center of Usek, the latter run by Brazilian Roberto Khatlab.
The course intends to give an overview of the issues which affect Middle East in general and Lebanon in particular, such as the Arab Spring, international terrorism, US foreign policy, Turkey’s plans for the region, Gulf states’ interest, Iran’s influence, conflicts in Syria, the refugees, Lebanon’s internal division and Latin America’s influence in the geopolitical dynamics of the country in view of the weight of the diaspora.
According to Khatlab, the subscriptions are open until March 31st. The course is to last 15 weeks, with a topic for discussion in each, in a total of 36 hours. The program carries three credits and provides a certificate by the end.
According to the professor, the cost is US$ 500, with a 30% discount for groups of ten people.
