São Paulo – Armando Álvares Penteado Foundation (FAAP), a higher education institution in São Paulo, is going to promote, in October this year, a student delegation to the United Arab Emirates. The mission should be turned to students and former students of all the college courses and enrolment is open. The focus of the delegation is to present to the university students the successful entrepreneurial case of Dubai.
According to the deputy-chancellor at the FAAP School of Economics, Luiz Alberto Machado, the objective is to prepare the students for the missions they should take abroad in future, once graduated. "We want them to see what a mission is like, when you have a full agenda, business dinners and in which you have to send a report by e-mail once you get back to the hotel," stated Machado. The delegation is open to up to 40 students.
"They will have an opportunity to see a part of the world that is a paradigm for those interested in entrepreneurship," he said. The schedule is all turned to showing entrepreneurial projects in the emirate." The group is going to leave on October 11th, from São Paulo, and returns on the 19th. The schedule also includes a visit to Masdar, a city designed for zero carbon emission, in the emirate of Abu Dhabi, and to the Brazilian embassy.
The students should also visit the Dubai Department of Commerce and Trade Marketing, the Stock Market, fairs and should also meet with representatives of Brazilian companies operating in the region, like Odebrecht, Perdigão and Marcopolo. They should also have meetings with representatives at Dubal, the aluminium plant in Dubai, and at Damac Holding, the real estate developer. The students should also visit Jebel Ali Free Zone and the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil) distribution centre in the city. There will be two days of free activities.
Machado, whose brainchild the delegation is, explained that the group should be accompanied by a professor connected to the project, who should send daily reports about activities to FAAP. At the same time in which one group of students will be visiting the Emirates, another should travel to the United States. This should be the first student mission to the Arab country. To the United States, on the other hand, it is the second – the first having take place last year.
To participate in the trip to the Emirates, the student must have fluent English and also an entrepreneurial profile. Interaction Times, an agency specialized in this kind of program, is taking care of the operational part of the trip. Those interested in participating in the delegation should send their curriculum and a letter of intent, in English, and pay a fee of US$ 100. In case the student is not selected, the money will be returned. If selected, the funds are used as part of the payment.
The cost for each student ranges from US$ 5,100 to US$ 5,600, according to the date of enrolment and form of payment – in cash or instalments. The value includes the stay in a four star hotel, breakfast, round-trip airfare, transportation between different cities and participation in activities.
