Brasília – All travelers, Brazilian or foreign, entering Brazil by air, from this Saturday (11), will have to present documentation with a negative test for COVID-19 and proof of vaccination; otherwise, they will have to undergo a five-day quarantine in the destination city.
In a flight with connections or stopovers in which the traveler remains in a restricted area of the airport, the aforementioned periods will be considered to boarding the first leg of the trip.
Until now, international travelers had to present only the Traveler’s Health Declaration (DSV), a document filled out on the Brazilian National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA) website, and a negative RT-PCR test performed up to 72 hours before boarding.
The interministerial ordinance determines the restrictions, measures, and exceptional and temporary requirements for entry into the country due to the risks of contamination and dissemination of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus disease (COVID-19); it was published in the Brazilian Official Federal Gazette this Thursday (9).
Children
For children under the age of 12 who are traveling accompanied; the ordinance states they are exempt from presenting documentation proving having undergone tests to screen for infection by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, provided all companions present documentation with a negative or undetectable result of the laboratory type RT-PCR, performed within 72 hours before boarding, or antigen test, carried out within 24 hours before travel.
Travel by land
Foreign travelers, when entering Brazil by road or any other land means, must also present to the immigration or health authorities proof, printed or electronically, of vaccination with immunization agents approved by ANVISA, WHO, or local authorities where the traveler was vaccinated with the application of the last shot or single shot having occurred at least 14 days before the date of entry into the country; or test to screen for SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus infection (COVID-19), with a negative or undetectable result, of the antigen test type, performed within 24 hours before entry, or laboratory RT-PCR, performed within 72 hours before entering Brazilian territory.
