São Paulo – Motor vehicle production in Brazil dropped 19.5% in September from August. This Tuesday (6th), the National Motor Vehicle Manufacturers Association (Anfavea) reported that in September, 174,200 units were made, down from 216,600 in August. September numbers were down 42.1% from 300,800 vehicles in September 2014.
Year-to-date through September, 1.9 million vehicles were made in Brazil, down from 2.38 million in 2014.
Sales were down 3.5%, from 207,300 vehicles in August to 200,100 last month.
In comparison to September 2014, when 296,300 unities were sold, the decline reaches 32.5%. From January to September, 1.95 million vehicles were sold, 22.7% less than the 2.52 million sold in the same period of 2014.
Employment levels remained practically stable in September over August. There was a decline of 0.6%. Last month, 133,600 people were employed by the auto industry, against 134,300 in the previous month. In comparison to September 2014, when the industry employed 147,700 employees, the loss of job posts amounts to 9.6%.
