São Paulo – Brazilian vehicle production grew by 4.1% in the first half this year, compared with the same period of last year. Over 1.71 million units were manufactured from January to June, as against 1.64 million in the first half of 2010. The figures were disclosed this Wednesday (6th) by the National Association of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (Anfavea).
According to the association, 295,600 vehicles were made in Brazil in June this year, a decline of 2.8% in comparison with May (304,200). When compared with June 2010, production grew by 4.1%.
In the last 12-month period, 3.45 million vehicles were produced, 4.7% more than in the 12-month period ended June 2010 (3.29 million).
In the first half, 1.74 million vehicles were licensed in Brazil, 10% more than in the same period of 2010, when 1.58 million vehicles were licensed. In June alone, 304,300 vehicles were licensed according to the Anfavea, a lower figure than in May (318,500). In comparison with June of last year, vehicle licensing grew by 15.8%.
