São Paulo – Domestic sales of vehicles in Brazil, by automakers operating in the country, dropped by 4.9% in September compared with August, but remained 1.5% higher than in the same period of last year, at 311,648 units sold. Year-to-date as of September, sales grew by 7.2%, according to figures disclosed this Thursday (6) by the National Association of Vehicle Manufacturers (Anfavea).
There was also a decline in export revenues, which had been increasing since the start of the year. Export revenues stood at US$ 1.3 million, as against US$ 1.4 million in August, representing a 3.7% decrease.
The sales slowdown caused production to drop by 19.7%. In September, 261,184 vehicles were manufactured, as against 325,326 in August. In comparison with September 2010, production declined by 6.2% and year-to-date it grew by 3.3%.
