São Paulo – Brazilian motor vehicle sales were down 25.05% in February from January, according to a report released this Tuesday (5th) by the National Federation of Motor Vehicle Distributors (Fenabrave). In January, 296,800 vehicles were sold. February-on-February, sales were down 5.65%.
In February this year, 222,400 vehicles were sold, of which 171,400 were automobiles and 51,000 were light commercial vehicles (such as vans). Truck sales amounted to 9,900 units in February, down 18.12% from January. Bus sales stood at 2,600 units, up 8.72% from January.
In all of 2013, 519,399 vehicles were sold in Brazil, up 6.32% from the same period last year.
Fenabrave forecasts that sales should be up 2.6% this year from 2012, to a total of 3.7 million automobiles and light commercial vehicles. In January, the organization had forecasted a 3% increase in sales.
For all segments, including autos, light commercial vehicles, trucks, buses and motorcycles, the 2013 sales increase forecast has been revised up from 2.82% to 3.31%, amounting to 5.6 million vehicles.
