São Paulo – Sales of motor vehicles, including motorcycles, road implements, automobiles, light commercial vehicles, buses and trucks at authorized dealerships throughout Brazil dropped 9.32% in April from March and 21.34% in April from a year ago.
In the first four months of the year, sales fell 22.52% from a year ago. The numbers were released this Tuesday (3rd) by the Federation of National Motor Vehicle Distributors (Fenabrave).
Automobile sales were down 10.58% in April from March, 26.33% in April from a year ago, and 26.40% year-to-date through April from a year ago.
Trucks were one of the categories whose sales dropped the most, at 13.07%. Fenabrave’s president Alarico Assumpção Júnior ascribed the decline to Brazil’s slumping economy.
