São Paulo – Brazilian sales of new vehicles, including cars, light commercial vehicles, lorries, busses, motorcycles, road equipment and other vehicles, grew 9.11% in the accumulated result this year up to October, when compared with the same period in 2009. Sales rose from 3,989,244 units to 4,352,566. The figures were disclosed by the National Federation of Motor Vehicle Distributors (Fenabrave) on Monday (1).
When comparing the months of October and September, the sector retracted 3.07%, from 478,311 units to 463,645. "The result for the first ten months of the year shows the sector’s tendency for growth. The slight drop from September to October was due to the fewer working days. September had 21 working days, whereas October had just 20," said Sergio Reze, president at Fenabrave.
The number of light commercial vehicles licensed, for example, grew in the comparison between the first ten months in 2010 and 2009. Together, the sectors grew 6.57%, rising from 2,492,807 units to 2,656,461 units in the period. From September to October, licensing of both sectors dropped 1.33%, totalling 287,537 units.
