São Paulo – Motor vehicle sales in Brazil climbed 12.2% year-on-year from January to April. According to figures made public by the National Federation of Motor Vehicle Distributors (Fenabrave) this Thursday (2), 1,244,151 units were sold year-to-date through April 2019.
The numbers include automobiles, light commercial vehicles, trucks, buses and motorcycles. April saw 339,424 vehicles sold, up 9.08% from April 2018.
Fenabrave chairman Alarico Assumpção Júnior imputed positive April results to the fact it had two business days more than March, and to a gradual rebound in consumer confidence indicators. “The market as a whole kept recovering at the same pace. Sales climbed 0.5% on average per day,” he said.
Year-to-date auto and light commercial vehicle sales reached 801,330 units, up 8.71% from a year ago. In April, the category saw 221,321 units sold, up 5.42% from a year ago.
