São Paulo – The first quarter of this year saw 904,760 brand new vehicles sold in Brazil, up 13.42% from a year ago. Sales in March were up 2.32% year-on-year to 305,549 units, the National Federation of Motor Vehicle Distributors (Fenabrave) reported this Wednesday (3). The numbers include automobiles, light commercial vehicles, trucks, buses, motorcycles, road implements and other vehicles.
Auto and light commercial vehicle sales were up 10% year-on-year in Q1 to over 580,000 units, and down 0.25% to 199,550 vehicles in March.
“As per projections made public in early 2019, the market should keep growing, in line with both consumer and business owner confidence indexes. However, we still notice that buyers are cautious when it comes to taking on new commitments, and awaiting decisions that could impact the national economy, such as the passing of reforms, which” Fenabrave chairman Alarico Assumpção Júnior said.
