São Paulo – Brazilian equipment manufacturer WEG, based in the state of Santa Catarina (S), is going to establish a manufacturing unit for electric engines in India. The announcement was made today (26th) by the company, which has recently opened factories in Dubai and Russia.
In India, the unit will be located in the city of Hosur, in the state of Tamil Nadu, near Bangalore, in an area of 170,000 square metres. The first phase of the project will receive investment of US$ 50 million and production should begin in late 2009.
WEG already owns a unit in India, since 2004, and the new investment is part of an expansion plan. The company also has factories in Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Portugal and China.
