Rio de Janeiro – In the wake of its hosting the 2014 FIFA World Cup, Brazil is cooperating with organizers of the event’s next two editions: Russia in 2018 and Qatar in 2022. According to the Brazilian minister of Sports, Aldo Rebelo, Brazil has signed a term of cooperation with Russia and was visited by Qatari 120 officials during the Cup, so they could learn from the country’s experience in hosting the event.
"We have had a few meetings and signed a protocol for cooperation with Russia. We are assisting them with whatever they deem important, in both the private and public spheres. Government officials who have worked during the Cup are going to help out with Russia’s efforts in organizing their World Cup,” said Rebelo at the 2014 World Cup Seminar – Legacies to Brazil, held this Wednesday (3rd) at the auditorium of Rio de Janeiro’s Maracanã Stadium.
Rebelo noted that the choice of Qatar to host the Cup is important because the championship will be held in an Arab country for the first time. “I believe the Qatar World Cup will reach an audience who is really passionate about football. Qatar has the ability to organize this Cup, considering its peculiarities; they just need to be aware of the weather and find the best time,” said Rebelo, on explaining that the Qatari officials who travelled to Brazil for the Cup witnessed the management programs for all of the Brazilian states that hosted matches, and requested for the cooperation to continue.
