São Paulo – Yoki, one of the main food sector companies in Brazil, should invest 32.5 million Brazilian reals (US$ 19 million) in expansion of its industrial unit in the city of Pouso Alegre, in the state of Minas Gerais. According to information published on the Agência Minas site, job generation should reach 252 direct and 159 indirect jobs after expansion.
A protocol of intentions about the investment was signed by company representatives alongside the government of Minas Gerais, through the Institute for Integrated Development of Minas Gerais (Indi), an organisation connected to the State Secretariat for Economic Development (Sede). Works have already started and should end in January 2012.
Revenues of the unit should climb from 8 million reals (US$ 4.8 million) in 2011 to 18 million reals (US$ 11 million) in 2012, after the start of production. Yoki has nine industrial units in the states of São Paulo, Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso and Pernambuco and four distribution centres in the Federal District, Bahia and Minas Gerais.
Yoki produces 620 items, from ingredients and products to conveniences, like semi-ready dishes, popcorn, natural and industrialized condiments, snacks, natural products, teas, cake mixes, deserts, sweets, soups, drinks, cereals, maize meal, cassava meal, wheat meal and pet food, among others.
