São Paulo – Nominations are now open for the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity, a global prize recognizing efforts to promote human fraternity and solidarity. Eligible nominators from all over the world are invited to submit their nominations, organizers said.
Since 2019, the award has recognized honorees from eleven countries, supporting their humanitarian efforts in a diverse array of fields including healthcare, education, community development, refugee resettlement, and women and youth empowerment. Academics, NGOs, spiritual leaders, members of governments, and more are eligible for the award, which includes USD 1 million financial prize.
Nominations are open from Monday (3) to October 1st, 2024. The prize is awarded on February 4, the International Day for Human Fraternity. The honorees – whose humanitarian efforts and impact follow in the footsteps of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan – are honored at a ceremony in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, at the Founder’s Memorial.
Zayed Award for Human Fraternity: Pope and Imman
The Zayed Award for Human Fraternity is granted by the Higher Committee of Human Fraternity was established in 2019 following the historic meeting in Abu Dhabi between Pope Francis, head of the Catholic Church, and Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, during which the two leaders co-signed the Document on Human Fraternity. An independent judging committee of experts in peacebuilding and coexistence will review the nominations and select the honorees.
