This Monday (10) in your ANBA Bulletin: the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) is shipping off donations to Lebanon this week. Three tons of food, PPEs and medication will be shuttled on a Brazilian government plane this week. The items have been purchased using the proceeds from a fundraiser, as well as the ABCC’s own resources. The campaign is ongoing, in partnership with other organizations, and additional shipments will follow, in a bid to assist the population in the wake of the Beirut blast last week.
ANBA also features a story on the shockwaves created by the disaster in Brazil, prompting displays of solidarity everywhere, and spurring people into action to help out. Arabs and Arab descendants make up 6% of Brazil’s population, and the majority of them are of Lebanese background.
The Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa) reached an agreement with the UAE’s International Biosaline Agriculture Center (ICBA). ANBA’s Thais Sousa interviewed Embrapa’s president Celso Moretti. The ICBA is interested in learning more about saltwater-tolerant forage plants in Brazil’s semiarid areas, among other things.
Registration is open for a webinar on Brazilian-Arab logistics, to be hosted next Wednesday (12) by the ABCC and the Union of Arab Chambers, featuring panelists from Brazil and the world over.
And the Red Sea beaches of Umluj are the hottest destination for the Saudi Arabian holiday season, with crystal-clear waters and coral reefs.
