This Monday (17) in your ANBA Bulletin: News on Gulfood, the Middle East’s largest food and beverage show, which started last Sunday (16) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and runs till Thursday (20). The Arab Chamber has its own stand in the show featuring eight member companies. Most of them are in the show aiming to get new customers from Arab countries. Read a story by Thais Sousa on Bahrain and other Arab countries that aren’t still tourist destinations for Brazilians, such as Oman and Qatar, and will receive prominence by Lynden travel operator this year. Check out an interview that Brazil’s new ambassador to Beirut, Hermano Telles Ribeiro, gave ANBA telling about his plans for the embassy. Ribeiro expects to assume the position next April and will work for a Lebanon-Mercosur agreement. The 25th edition of Gulfood, the Middle East’s premier food and beverage industry show, began this Monday (16) at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce’s stand features eight companies – Açaí Amazonas, NP Zanchetta Cerealista, Golden Agri-Resources (GAR), Dinda, O Primo Logística, Agrícola Ferrari, Aqua Amazon, and Royal Queen Açaí.

Brazilian brands launch products at Gulfood

Company Aqua Amazon is launching its 500 ml Amazon mineral water bottles at the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce stand in Dubai food industry show Gulfood, which kicked off this Sunday (16). Royal Queen Açaí is also coming out with a new product at the stand – açaí with date bits and date syrup.

Saudi Arabia halts purchases from two BRF plants in Paraná

The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) has temporarily suspended poultry export authorizations for two plants owned by the major Brazilian animal protein company BRF. The units in the municipalities of Dois Vizinhos and Francisco Beltrão got suspended on February 10, according to the SFDA website.

Brazilian operator bets on heritage tourism in Bahrain

Bahrain, Oman and Qatar are the countries where Lynden tourism agency and operator wants to focus its efforts in 2020. Packages to Bahrain will be launched next March. The company has worked with destinations in the Middles East for 21 years and wants to diversify its operations.

Kuwait opens up to beef from Brazil

 | Kuwait will start importing beef from Brazil, as per information made public last Thursday (13) night by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA). The sector’s Brazilian industries have waited for this opening for the last seven years, and several representations of the Brazilian government have made attempts with Kuwait officials for it to reopen.

Arab demand for coffee grows above average: Cooxupé

Middle Eastern and Arab demand for coffee from Brazil has grown above the global average, Guaxupé Coffee Farmers Cooperative chairman Carlos Augusto Rodrigues De Melo (pictured, center) told ANBA this Thursday (13) during the second day of the Agriculture Machinery, Implement and Input Fair (Femagri), organized by Cooxupé in the city of Guaxupé, Minas Gerais.

Dubai tourism office in São Paulo to open by July

 | The state-run Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) is planning on opening an office in São Paulo by the end of the first half, in a bid to encourage Brazilians to travel to Dubai. So says DTCM International Operations manager for Latin America, Portugal and Spain Cibele Moulin. Dubai welcomed 104,000 Brazilian travelers in 2019, up 21% from 2018. Overall, the emirate saw 16.73 million tourists last year, up 5% year-on-year.

Brazil transport company to get USD 500 mn from UAE fund

 | The government of the state of São Paulo has announced that the corporate mission to the United Arab Emirates could yield USD 3.2 billion to São Paulo-based companies over the next eighteen months. Viação Itapemirim alone announced an investment of USD 500 million from one UAE sovereign fund. The company’s president Sidnei Piva (pictured above) chose not to report which fund, if Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) or Mubadala Investment Company. He closed the deal this Wednesday (12).
