Read on this Monday (22) ANBA Bulletin that Brazilian defense and security companies are getting information on how to export more. The Brazilian Defense and Industry Material Association (Abimde) held a seminar on internationalization at the offices of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce in São Paulo. “This industry depends on exports and ‘duality,’ i.e. the use of defense materials by civilian industries,” Abimde Projects director Paulo Albuquerque said. The Arab market is considered strategic in this industry, according to him. The encounter featured presentations by Arab Brazilian Chamber CEO Tamer Mansour (pictured) and Institutional Relations manager Fernanda Baltazar.
Learn also that Brazilian food company BRF, that sells under the Sadia and Perdigão brands, is now reusing 100% of the treated water in its operations at its plant in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Overall, BRF expects to save up 72,000 m³ of water a year, which translates into an economy of USD 130,000. “Aside from the financial gain, the adoption of this new technology brings environmental gain, since we’re making more conscious use of water in a country that was built in the middle of the desert,” BRF Abu Dhabi plant industrial manager Giovani Pelliza explained.
Another highlight is the documentary series “Babel SP,” which portrays the lives of Arab refugees and homeless Brazilians living together at Occupation Leila Khaled – an occupied building in São Paulo’s Liberdade neighborhood. Our reporter Thais Sousa interviewed the director André Amparo and the producer Samantha Capdeville, who talk about the years that led to the show conclusion.
