Government officials and private sector players are gathered for the conference held by the Arab-German Chamber of Commerce and running until Thursday (27). Investment and food security are two key topics. “We had many chances to talk extensively about the problems involved in food security and food production, and we found it quite fruitful,” Arab Brazilian Chamber International Relations vice president Osmar Chohfi told ANBA's Thais Sousa speaking from Berlin. Brazil is a major supplier of food products to Europe, the Middle East and North Africa.
A delegation of Uruguayan authorities and executives visited the Arab Brazilian Chamber offices in São Paulo on Wednesday. Talks began that should lead to joint action regarding relations with Arab countries. Backed by the Union of Arab Chambers, the Arab Brazilian Chamber created the Federation of South American Arab Chambers last year. Now, it's looking work closer with other South American countries to target Arab markets. “It’s very important to work together as South America,” said Agência Uruguai XXI Investment Promotion Projects manager Paola Leites de Moraes told ANBA's Isaura Daniel.
And Arab Chamber president Rubens Hannun and CEO Tamer Mansour met with Egypt's minister of Investment and International Cooperation Sahar Nasr in Cairo. Twenty-two Brazilian executives sat in the meeting.
